🐾 Blog Post #2
I Didn’t Know What I Was Building — I Just Knew It Had to Be Mine
“It wasn’t rejection. It was God removing me from someone else’s system — because He had a new one waiting with my name on it.”
Hey y’all — Lydia here 💖
If you read my first blog, you know how PetstoreNmore started out strong. But this post isn’t about the hustle. This one is about the moment I said, “I’m done.”
💻 I Was Reselling Products I Didn’t Even Make
Let’s be real — at the time, I wasn’t buying wholesale or dealing directly with big vendors.
I was going to stores, grabbing cat food, and listing them on my site. I was just trying to make it work.
No shady stuff — just hustle.
But then I got an email.
“You do not have authorization to sell our products. Remove them immediately.”
I was shocked. Embarrassed. And for a second?
I thought, “That’s it. My business is done.”
😔 But Then It Hit Me…
I wasn’t really upset that I had to take the items down.
I was upset that I was out here building someone else’s brand but mine.
I was tired.
✔️ Tired of selling things other people made
✔️ Tired of being told what I can and can’t do
✔️ Tired of working 50+ hours a week at a job that didn’t feed my spirit or my future
That email didn’t shut me down.
It woke me up.
✨ I Didn’t Know What I Was Going to Do — I Just Knew I Wanted Something of My Own
Something real. Something mine. Something I could pour my creativity, my humor, my faith, and my vision into.
So I started working with a designer to create a logo. No brand yet. No product. Just a vibe.
She was super cute — full of sass and style — and the moment I saw her, I thought:
“She’s special. I don’t know what I’m doing with her yet, but I know I need to protect her.”
📚 So I Went on YouTube and Taught Myself How to File a Trademark
No legal team. No fancy connections.
Just me… Googling my way through.
I filed the paperwork.
And then I waited.
And waited.
Nearly a year passed.
Then one day… I got the email.
“Congratulations — your logo is officially trademarked.”
Y’all… I cried. 😭
That little logo was mine.
Legally. Officially. Authentically.
🐾 That Was the Spark That Lit the Fire
I stared at her and said:
“You’re going to be a dog clothing line.”
And just like that, Diva Dog was born.
She didn’t come from a marketing plan or a business degree.
She came from exhaustion. From faith. From a decision to stop playing small and start creating something that belonged to me.
💬 Final Words from Your Girl
If you’re in a place where you’re building someone else’s dream and it’s draining you — this is your sign.
Make your own.
Protect it.
Trademark it.
Nurture it.
Even if you don’t know exactly what it is yet.
Because that cute little logo?
She wasn’t just a picture.
She was permission.
To dream.
To build.
To believe in what could be.
With love (and a registered trademark),
Diva Dog
