I Wasn’t Just Creating Shirts — I Was Creating My Way Out
I don’t even know how to describe that season I was in.
I just know I wasn’t okay.
I was showing up. Going to work. Smiling. Functioning.
But deep down, I was crying almost every day.
And not over anything specific… I just felt off.
Like I couldn’t breathe.
Like I was in a box and everybody else had fresh air.
I kept thinking, “There has to be more than this. There HAS to be.”
And the crazy part?
From the outside, everything looked fine.
But inside? I felt like I was falling apart.
I Felt Like I Had Wings, and Everyone at Work Was Walking
That’s the best way I can explain it.
I knew I had something in me — something creative, something bigger —
but I felt like I was stuck in a slow, quiet world where no one wanted to move.
It felt like I was screaming on the inside and smiling on the outside.
Like I had fire in my chest but no place to burn it.
I’d cry in the car, wipe my face, and walk into work like nothing happened.
Like, “Hi! Welcome to.... How can I help you?”
I Wasn’t Just Tired — I Was Soul Tired.
And I couldn’t explain it to anyone.
I prayed.
I journaled.
I asked God over and over again:
“What is this feeling? Why do I feel stuck? Why do I feel like I’m being called to more, but I can’t find the door?”
And then one day — real quiet, like a whisper in my chest —
I heard God say:
“Use it.”
That’s it.
Not a big moment. No angels. No glitter from the sky.
Just that: “Use it.”
So I Did.
I didn’t even know what I was doing.
I just started designing shirts.
Little phrases that sounded like how I felt.
A laugh here. A prayer there. A little bit of both.
And I started feeling… lighter.
It’s like every time I created something, God peeled off a layer of heaviness.
Like He was saying, “You see? You’re not broken. You’re birthing.”
That’s When I Realized… These Shirts Are More Than Cute.
They’re pieces of my healing.
They came from pain. From prayers. From trying to stay sane in a world that kept trying me.
I didn’t just want to make stuff to sell. I wanted to make stuff that spoke.
Because I’m not the only one who felt that kind of stuck.
I’m not the only one who felt like she was drowning in a job, in a role, in a version of life that didn’t fit anymore.
So I created from that place.
And that’s how Diva Dog really came to life.
I Started Designing for the Girl Who Was Tired — But Still Dreaming
Not every woman wants to wear the shirt that says what she’s feeling.
Some of us are too tired to explain ourselves.
Too busy to break it all down.
Too strong to ask for help.
So I made shirts… for their dogs.
Because sometimes, your fur baby can say what your mouth can’t.
Sometimes the shirt says, “Sis is going THROUGH it,” and the tail is still wagging.
Sometimes you just need something that makes you smile when you wanna scream.
That’s what Diva Dog is.
It’s Healing in Hoodie Form.
It’s “I’m Not Okay But I’m Still Here” Energy.
It’s Faith + Funny + Fluff.
This brand?
It came from tears, but it’s dressed in joy.
So if you’ve ever felt stuck, tired, boxed in, or like you were made for way more —
just know:
You are.
You don’t have to have it all figured out.
You don’t need a 5-year plan.
You don’t even need to be okay.
You just have to start.
That’s what I did.
And I’m still walking that out — one shirt, one prayer, one belly rub at a time.
💖 With love,
Lydia
